GL&V Inc., who purchased the Lenox Winder Products Division from the former Beloit Corporation last February, is pleased to announce their Annual Finishing Technologies Seminar. The seminar will be held on February 5 - 9, 2001 at the Radisson Resort Parkway in Kissimmee, Florida.

GL&V/Beloit-Lenox, a complete winder solutions provider, from winder parts to new machines, has the largest winder service center in the paper industry. The winder service scientists and engineers, many with more than 15 years experience in the field, provide a full range of services including: vibration analysis, full winder diagnostic capability and roll structure analysis, in-mill educational and training programs, comprehensive preventive maintenance programs, annual service agreements, winder startups and turnkey operations, general winder operations consulting and 24 hour emergency service. GL&V continues this tradition of excellence with these two finishing seminars: The Art and Science of Producing Good Quality Rolls, February 5-7, and The Winding Problem Solving Workshop, February 8-9, 2001.

The Art and Science of Producing Good Quality Rolls, created and presented by Alexis Olshansky, is a two and one-half day in-depth introduction to roll structure, web control, spreading, slitting, techniques of winding on different types of winders, winder runnability and productivity. Supervisors and managers from production, quality control, maintenance, plant and corporate engineering, as well as technical support staff members, winder operators and winder maintenance personnel should all consider attending. Alexis Olshansky, with over 30 years experience in the paper industry, has focused his expertise on the winding process. Alex originated this seminar fifteen years ago, to promote better quality rolls and increased profitability for paper mills through in-depth education and training programs. Over 500 mill personnel have attended over the years. GL&V recommends taking this course every two-to-three years as a refresher and to learn about the new technologies in this changing market.

The Winding Problem Solving Workshop is jointly presented by GL&V's two senior process scientists: Robert Lucas, PE and Donald Fitzpatrick. Both scientists are well known in the field, with a combined experience of over 50 years. This one and one-half day, hands on workshop is a natural continuation of the theoretical and practical knowledge gained from the first seminar segment. It will cover the problem solving principles and tools with major emphasis on applying these to helping mills address real winding problems. Winder operators and troubleshooters, mill engineers and technical service personnel, as well as production and quality assurance supervisors and managers should register for this course. Attendees are encouraged to bring their operational problems, customer issues, data samples for analysis and solutions during the workshop!

These seminars have grown in popularity year after year, and seating is limited. To register today and for more information, please contact Mary Downs, Winder Service Administrator, at 413-637-3741, by fax at 413-637-3759 or e-mail at mary.downs@glv.com. The seminars will be held at the Radisson Resort Parkway, 2900 Parkway Boulevard, Kissimmee, Florida 34747; February 5-9, 2001.
