Unrivalled Agenda For Pira's Events Dedicated To Papermakers
January 11, 2010
Pira International is proud to announce the agenda for its leading conferences dedicated to pulp and paper industry:
- 11th biennial Refining and Mechanical Pulping
- 3rd annual Biorefining for the Pulp and Paper Industry
In 2010, these strategically crucial events dedicated to papermakers will be co-located and run parallel for the first time. This dual conference will be taking place on 23 - 25 February 2010 at the Sheraton Stockholm, Sweden. "We realise that times are still though, especially for papermaking sector. We joined our two well-known events to enable our clients to attend both for the cost of only one. These events will provide everyone involved in the industry with critical knowledge about developments in traditional processes as well as new business opportunities," said Ciaran Little, Head of Event at Pira International.
The dual event will kick off with a pre-conference workshop on Tuesday 23 February that will teach attendees how to design a sustainable biorefinery. The workshop will be led by Prof Paul Stuart from ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE DE MONTRÉAL, Canada and Prof Anne-Marie Tilman from CHALMERS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, Sweden.
Day 1 of the Biorefining conference will commence with presentations from UPM KYMMENE, PÖYRY MANAGEMENT CONSULTING and GEORGA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY focusing at global drivers for biorefining. Afterwards, speakers from UNILEVER R&D, PROCESSUM BIOREFINERY INITIATIVE, SÖDRA INNOVATION and ROYAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY will be discussing end market requirement, followed by biorefining value chain analyses from ECOFYS, BORREGAARD, ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE DE MONTRÉAL and FOREST-BASED SECTOR TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM.
Second day of the conference will feature various successful biorefining case studies presented by speakers from CHEMREC, TECHLAKE, INDUSTRIA E INNOVAZIONE, ENVERGENT TECHNOLOGIES, SOLANDER SCIENCE PARK, BRAZILIAN SUGARCANE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (UNICA), NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY LABORATORY, Australian APPI and PIRA INTERNATIONAL.
Refining conference will be preceded by an interactive workshop looking into how to improve energy efficiency in the refining process. This session will be led by representatives from MID SWEDEN UNIVERSITY and BRAVIKEN MILL – HOLMEN PAPER. It will be followed by presentations from HOLMEN PAPER, AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY and PAPIERTECHNISCHE STIFTUNG examining impact of refining on paper properties and performance. Speakers from NOVOZYMES, METSO AUTOMATION and GL&V will analyse pulp and paper refining industry's hottest topics – efficiency and energy.
Second day talks will be focused at fibre engineering and will provide insights from leading experts in this field such as PIRA INTERNATIONA, INNVENTIA, GRENOBLE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY and UNIVERSITY OF NEW BRUNSWICK. Representative from LORRENTZE & WETTRE will talk about new trends in pulp quality measurement systems, followed by the presentation analysing implementation of the process control system in a mill. This one day conference will then be closed by presentation from INNVENTIA exploring their LC-refiner. Innventia then invites all delegates to visit their EuroFEX Pilot Paper Machine Plant.
Comprehensive agendas of these two events provide an unmissable knowledge and networking platform for everyone operating locally or internationally in this sector. For more information, visit www.biorefining-conference.com or visit www.refining-conference.com
