Applications such as CIP systems, bioreactors, and skid systems have traditionally been plumbed with conventional stainless steel tubing. That approach typically leads to maintenance and design issues.

Tubing plumbed in straight or perpendicular, parallel lines or at angles must be cut perfectly to exact lengths required with the ends square for proper make-up with the fittings, which are generally compression style, sanitary, flanged or orbitally welded. Any compound direction requires exact lengths of tubing and numerous connections.

Fortunately, designers of skid systems now have a superior alternative to the "hard pipe" design: Coreflex's flexible hoses of Teflon®. The comparative ease of configuring lengths of hose of Teflon® make the solution a cost-effective alternative for a number of reasons.

Because the Coreflex patented S-COR hose lends itself to convenient bending and routing, systems designers can eliminate many of the hard connectors required when using rigid tubing. What benefits stem from having fewer connections?

  • lower costs for materials and labor
  • fewer leak paths, reduced risk of leakage
  • less pressure drop
  • less entrapment of conveyed material
