Raytek Corporation introduces the Thermalert SX series-an infrared sensor family for noncontact measurement, and through-the-lens visual sighting and laser-aiming on selected models. The SX series combines the electronics of the Smart TX series with the through-the-lens sighting capability of Raytek's Thermalert T-series. Through-the-lens sighting (and optional laser aiming) allows precise sensor alignment to pinpoint and measure small targets. The product line maintains 4-20 mA wiring for fast temperature measurement and networked sensor control communications and management. The sensor sets price-performance standards for the intermediate-price infrared thermometers.

The Thermalert SX is available in different models with a choice of four spectral responses and temperature ranges from -18ºC to 2000ºC. In addition to the new sighting options, the SX is available with standard and close-focus optics with a variety of optical characteristics. The two-wire, looped-powered connection simplifies installation.

The Thermalert SX digital interface allows all sensor parameters (emissivity, temperature range, alarm setpoints, averaging, etc.) to be adjusted remotely via an RS232/HART adapter from a PC. DataTemp software is also available for recording and displaying of all measurements and parameters. Laser-equipped units require separate power connection.
