NIST Grant Program Aims To Encourage Manufacturing Tech R&D Partnerships

The National Institute of Standards and Technology will offer grants of up to $5.6M for industry-led consortia to research and develop manufacturing process technologies.

NIST’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia Program is open to all private companies, academic institutions and government agencies, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Grant awards will range from $250,000 to $500,000 over a two-year period and full applications are due Oct. 31, according to the agency.

NIST will hold webinars on Aug. 7 and 14 at 2 p.m. Eastern Time to provide more information on the AMTech funding program.

The organization awarded $9 million in grants to 19 collaborative R&D technology initiatives in areas such as flexible-electronics production, biomanufacturing and pulp-and-paper making in May.
