Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas Increases Capacity Of Its Foopak Bio Natura Suite Of Biodegradable, Compostable And Recyclable Food Packaging Board

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas has announced the start-up of it’s newest coating machine at its Indah Kiat Serang mill. The new coater will allow the company to increase capacity to over 60,000 metric tons per year of its award-winning Foopak Bio Natura suite of biodegradable, compostable and recyclable packaging board designed for cups, trays, and containers, further extending its global reach.

“Sustainable packaging is no longer a simple nice to have but has emerged as a high-demand critical dependency for many global-brands,” said Christopher Wong, Senior Vice President & Head Industrial Paper Division, Asia Pulp & Paper Sinar Mas. “This new capacity allows us to provide paper & packaging buyers with solutions that have a positive earth impact along with the performance needed to service the growing food retail and service sector,”

APP’s award-winning Foopak Bio Natura folding boxboard grades are plastic-free, and ideal for hot and cold takeaway food service, beverage, and ready-to-eat food packaging. APP has replaced the traditional petroleum-based plastic coating with innovative and revolutionary aqua-dispersion technology, making the product fully sustainable and certified biodegradable within 12 weeks. Foopak Bio Natura is also certified with Plastic Free Certification – Flustix, TUV Home Compostable, EN 13432-Industrial Compostable and Cyclos -HTP certified for recyclability.

Foopak Bio Natura is part of APP’s Foopak suite of OBA free and PFAS free food packaging products. All Foopak products are FDA, Halal, REACH and BfR certified for food contact and includes hardsized, greaseproof, extensive kit levels of papers and boards for oven, microwave and freezer packaging as well as liners for bakery, dairy and confection products.
