BACKTENDER Diagnostic Software

BACKTENDER is a diagnostic and optimization tool for the paper machine which provides continuous information to the operators regarding the performance of the press and dryer sections. It works by assessing the machine operation, then establishes benchmarks to compare on-going efficiency of the press and dryer section. Typical benchmarks include vacuum levels, press felt performance, press flow data, steam use, drying rate, MD moisture profile, etc.

MOISTACURVE MODULE
The Moistacurve dewatering module is the heart of the Backtender system. It generates machine direction moisture values at key locations between the couch and the reel. Sheet moisture is the primary operating variable which determines runnability and productivity. Without using high cost gauging systems, there has been no way for machine operators to track sheet moisture on a continuous basis. Moistacurve now provides this capability at a fraction of the cost.

PRESS MODULE
The press module consists of a press metering package that includes metering equipment and optimization software.

DRYER SECTION MODULE
The drying module has many optimization functions, the most important being drying performance analysis and dryer flooding detection. Other optimization tasks of the dryer module include monitoring of the steam system to minimize energy loss and hood air heating efficiency in reference to actual evaporation load. Features include:
