Black Clawson-Kennedy Sandy Hill Guide
Key Benefits
- Durable Design
- Easy to Operate
- Versatile Applications
- Hands on Process Control
Cast iron and mild steel paper machine compo-nents have long been prone to corrosion caused by harsh operating conditions. The constant exposure to hot, wet environments, combined with chemicals such as sulfides from kraft fin-ishes or chlorides from the bleaching process, and a pH, which is usually high, combine to attack all parts of the paper machine. In the last ten years, these problems have gotten worse, as more and more mills close their whitewater systems, effectively concentrating chemicals in the whitewater.
Guides have always been ruggedly built, with epoxy painted cast iron construction and stainless steel inner components. Now the best guide in the industry is also the first to be avail-able in 100% stainless steel.
Durable Design
Fast, gentle response assures long wire or felt life.
Anti-friction, needle type bearings are completely
enclosed in specially formulated rubber dia-phragms
that protect against water, dust, heat,
stock and other contaminants. 100% stainless
steel construction or two-part epoxy-painted cast
iron construction with stainless steel hardware
for long life.
The Sandy Hill Guide is easy to install, simple to operate and requires minimum maintenance. Bearing arrangement ensures precise linear movement and response to very small changes from the controller. Additionally, the Sandy Hill Guide can be connected directly to the mills air supply.
Versatile Applications
Adaptable to most existing guide rolls, the
Sandy Hill Guide can be installed horizontally,
vertically or at any angle in-between. The Sandy
Hill Guide can be interchangeable in both the
wet environment of a forming section and the
high heat of a dryer section. Machined vertical
pads on the side of the guide' s center section can
accept doctor-mounting brackets. The availability
of two types of guides in seven different sizes
makes it easy to fit the right guide in even the
tightest space.
Hands on Process Control
The Sandy Hill Guide is specially designed for
use with a wide range of automatic guide sizes
and is also available in 100% stainless steel
construction.
For easy access or when space is at a pre-mium, the Sandy Hill Guide can be mounted on top of their Hand Guides. The Hand Guide can also be mounted on the opposite side of the machine from the automatic guide, or even on a totally separate roll. The Sandy Hill Hand Guide completes the Sandy Hill Guiding System.
