BrainWave is the first practical replacement for Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers with the power of model-based control

BrainWave is the first practical replacement for Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers with the power of model-based control. Field installations of BrainWave have demonstrated a 30%-50% reduction in process variability to the well-tuned PID controllers that they replaced.

Unlike PID control or other types of model-based control, BrainWave is a smart controller that uses a complex set of mathematical functions that precisely model the process it is controlling. It is the only process controller presently on the market that automatically models the initial transient response of a process. Due to its predictive and adaptive capabilities, the controller BrainWave achieves a much closer match between the process and the controller than other modeling methods.

By observing the normal operation of existing control systems, its learns the process model. This learn-on-the-job ability reduces long setup times and detailed process knowledge that is required by other advanced controllers. It not only learns the effects of feedforward variables, it continually adapts to changes and can take corrective action before the process drifts off setpoint.

By maintaining the process closer to peak performance conditions, BrainWave can increase production while maintaining product quality and consistency without loop tuning or tedious setup. A single installation of the software can control up to 32 process loops via DDE, Allen-Bradley's Data Highway +, and Modicon Modbus protocols. OLE for Process Control (OPC) connectivity will be included in a future release.

BrainWave is a standalone Windows NT software product based on the same technology as Universal Dynamics' award-winning Universal Adaptive Controller, which was developed for use in custom systems.
