Burrows Paper Corporation Recognized For Excellence

Little Falls, NY - Burrows Paper Corporation was recently recognized for its achievements in sustainability and superior quality at the second annual HAVI Global Solutions U.S. Supplier Summit in Oak Brook, Ill.

Burrows received the 2010 Sustainability Award for its proactive response to recent environmental and composting legislation for quick-service restaurant (QSR) packaging. Burrows' knowledge of Seattle composting legislation led the company to secure confirmation on the compostable nature of the wrap items it supplies to McDonald's throughout the area. Burrows is certified as an approved vendor to Cedar Grove Composting, as Burrows products comply with its composting standards in the Pacific Northwest.

"Achieving compostable status for Burrows' line of Eco-Flute packaging products represents an opportunity for all Burrows customers," said Mike Lengvarsky, president and chief operating officer. "It also illustrates our expertise in Making Paper Perform."

Burrows also received three Quality Acknowledgement Awards for shipping nearly 36 million clamshells and more than 12 million wraps with no defects or missing game pieces during McDonald's 2010 Monopoly promotion. Packaging from Burrows' Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Reno, Nev., and Ft. Madison, Iowa facilities had zero defects. Burrows' Franklin, Ohio facility was recognized for having only a single defect.

"Burrows employees value the importance of maintaining comprehensive quality management systems," Lengvarsky said. "Our customers are confident in our ability to produce products that consistently exceed high quality standards and meet stringent customer specifications."
