Chesapeake acquires Scottish label operations
Thomas Johnson, Chesapeake's chairman, president, and CEO, explains that "Lithoprint is a well-respected, experienced producer of high-quality labels, as well as sales and commercial literature, who enables us to extend our market presence with both old and new customers."
Chesapeake points out that it now offers customers in the alcoholic drink sector a comprehensive range of printed cartons, composite tubes, and self-adhesive and wet-applied labels. Lithoprint's small format paper printing capability, the company adds, provides additional capacity to produce outer labels for composite tubes. The acquired operation will continue to be led by its current management team.
Chesapeake is a global supplier of specialty packaging and merchandising services. It is the largest North American producer of temporary and permanent point-of-purchase displays, the leading European folding carton, leaflet, and label supplier, a leader in plastics packaging for niche markets, and a local leader in specific U.S. markets for customized, corrugated packaging. The company has more than 70 locations in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Its net sales in 1999 were $1.2 billion.
