Sized to produce up to 10 lb/hr or chlorine dioxide, the SVP-Pure production system consists of small chemical metering pumps
N/Aoduce up to 10 lb/hr or chlorine dioxide, the SVP-Pure production system consists of small chemical metering pumps that transfer purate and sulfuric acid. The system eliminates the need for chlorine gas to offer safety, lessen regulations and eliminate chlorinated by-products that may be harmful to wastewater streams. This simple, two-chemical method is designed to eliminate hard water scaling and precipitation found in chlorine/chloride systems, as well as offer the capability to use additional peroxide for dual oxidation chemistry to control odors including non-condensables. Vacuum operation and PLC control provides additional safety.

The system utilizes a proprietary reactor to produce chlorine dioxide, oxygen, sodium sulfate, and water. An eductor creates a vacuum for removing products from the reactor. Chemical products are absorbed in the process stream entering the eductor. The rate of chlorine dioxide generation is monitored using an ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometer.

Chemical conversions are typically greater than 95% over the 1-10 lb/hr production range, according to the company. Unreacted sulfuric acid exits the reactor with the product, lowering the process water pH. The desired production rates can be maintained at high chemical efficiencies using a user-friendly PLC that also maintains fail-safe operation. The PLC incorporates emergency shutdown logic.
