Double Doctor Systems

The KanEng Double Doctoring system is a combination suction pick-up roll dewatering doctor with an integral saveall pan and high-pressure oscillating shower. KanEng Industries has also developed the double K-Flex blade holder. Originally designed for limited space applications, this special holder is mounted to a support structure that has a hinged saveall to prevent splash-by. The saveall has an integral high-pressure shower with pneumatic oscillation that is periodically run to prevent holes from plugging.

After installing this equipment, the Smurfit Newsprint mill in Oregon City, OR, reported improved sheet dryness, reduced steam consumption, and a better moisture profile. Subsequent mill installations of the KanEng Couch and Suction Roll Double Doctor have shown an average increase of 1.5% to 2% in solids across the roll. This, in turn, will increase overall press dryness by 1% to 2%, and will improve steam savings by 5% to 7%. KanEng has developed numerous double doctors as water removal devices in application such as:
