For over 35 years, Robco has been machining engineered ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene drainage elements
For over 35 years, Robco has been machining engineered ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene drainage elements for the Pulp and Paper Industry. Robco supplies suction box covers, forming boards, Uhle box covers, foils and doctor blades to paper machine builders and to the pulp and paper mills. Until recently, these products were only available in a short term sintered, UV stabilized form. Now with the availability of long term sinter pressed polyethylene, that has changed. Robco can offer extended wear life and improved water removal across the web.

Robadur is a sinter-pressed synthetic material made up of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene that is alloyed with the lubricating agent Molybdenum Disulphide, cross-linking agents and UV stabilizers. This material was designed to meet the specific requirements of pulp, paper, and board machines. It has a good resistance to wear and has a low coefficient of friction.

This material is supplied as forming boards, deflector blades, hydrofoils, vacufoils, wet suction box covers, flat suction box covers, curved suction box covers and suction shoes, felt suction box covers or doctor blades. It is resistant to all chemicals used in the paper industry and has zero water absorption. This material is homogeneous with elements up to 400 inches without welded seams. It is UV stabilized and also has a stress-relieved intrinsic structure with constant drainage across the sheet width.

Robaglas drainage elements are manufactured from long term sintered UHMW-PE reinforced with glass micro-beads and alloyed with molybdenum disulfide. It has been specifically developed for high wear positions on paper machines.

This material is suitable for applications where furnishes have a high filler content, or in waste paper applications where sand and metal particles are not uncommon. It is also suitable in very abrasive conditions and high vacuum positions.

Features include:

  • Micro beads of glass and molybdenum disulfide
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Homogeneous and stress-relieved
  • Zero water absorption
