The HPC coated paper flotation drying system allows flexibility in tight systems, fitting into the same space as a conventional gas IR system

The HPC coated paper flotation drying system allows flexibility in tight systems, fitting into the same space as a conventional gas IR system. It utilizes an "all air" flotation system that is kinder to the coated sheet than IR, providing excellent web handling characteristics and eliminating troublesome touchdown and flutter.

The system offers the same heat transfer capability as gas IR, quickly heating the sheet to approximately 160-170oF within the first 1.5 ft. Evaporation rates are also comparable to gas IR, providing excellent ventilation at the sheet surface. The unit operates over a wide range of tensions without loss of heat transfer. It has a built-in bypass system that maintains temperatures during machine stops, and can use either natural gas or steam as a heat source.

The HPC's internal air bar requires no maintenance and utilizes easy-to-clean Corten steel. It has no emitters to replace and no fires. The system recirculates hot air while limiting exhaust air and lost heat to reduce energy consumption. Further heat recovery can be obtained with a heat exchanger between the exhaust and fresh makeup air streams.
