GL&V Pulp and Paper Groupip is a low cost retrofit that dramatically increases finish quality with minimum bulk loss. At the dry end calender, runnability is improved, making reeling and winding more efficient. For printing grades, a double Hydra-Nip can treat each side of the sheet independently for more flexiblity in developing new and current grades.
It is not a calender. It is a true Soft Nip with a soft rubber cover roll nipped against a heavy walled dryer with a highly polished surface. Located in the required moisture range of the dryer section, it complements the action of the calender stack by treating the sheet while it is still moist, hot and pliable. Adjusting the pressure on a two-nip system can control two-sidedness.
