International Paper's Pre-Print Papers Are Now PEFC Certified
Memphis, TN - International Paper (IP), one of the world's largest paper products companies, received the PEFC certification for its offset and pre-print papers produced at the Saillat mill in France.
PEFC (Programme of Endorsement for Forest Certification) is a voluntary private sector initiative based on a consensus view among relevant interested parties on sustainable forest management at a regional level. It has been developed to meet internationally recognized requirements. It gives assurance to customers, and to the general public, that forests certified under the programme are managed as defined by the Helsinki criteria for the economically viable, environmentally appropriate and socially beneficial management of forests.
IP's Saillat mill is processing its wood to produce offset, pre-print and office papers mainly from PEFC-managed forests, and is managing the wood purchasing under a chain of custody, which is complying with the PEFC standards. The PEFC certification at Saillat is only one part of the global commitment that IP has made to ensure sustainably managed forests.
IP's pre-print range offers high-quality papers designed for first-class print reproduction. The major applications of the products are multi-colour billing statements, letterheads and mailings. IP's pre-print range consists of two qualities, PrePrint-S and PrePrint-E and is offered in basis weights between 80 and 160 g/m² in both reels and folio sheets.
