J.M. Huber Acquires Faxe Paper Pigments
J.M. Huber Corp. has acquired Faxe Paper Pigments of Copenhagen, Denmark, effective today. This means that, as of October 1, Faxe will operate as part of the engineered materials division of J.M. Huber.
J.M. Huber is a diversified, multinational supplier of engineered materials, natural resources, and technology-based services to customers in several industrial areas, from paper and plastics to electronics and energy. It is one of the largest family-owned companies in America, with annual revenues exceeding $1.5 billion. Founded in 1883, one year before Faxe was founded in Denmark, Huber currently employs 5,000 people worldwide.
Faxe Paper Pigments is the fastest growing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) supplier to the global paper industry, offering a unique range of tailor-made PCC products and services. Just yesterday, the company announced an agreement with Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co. (Lyons Falls, NY) to construct and operate an on-site PCC plant that will provide pigments for use in the mill's specialty paper production.
"The combined resources of Huber and Faxe Paper Pigments will provide the necessary resources and know-how to secure a continued rapid and successful expansion of Faxe's PCC business,'' said Lennart Holm, current CEO of Faxe Paper Pigments."
Jack Clem, Huber's VP Europe, added that "J.M. Huber is very excited about the opportunities that this presents for our customers. We are already a leading supplier of specialty chemicals and minerals to the paper market. PCC represents an important addition to the kaolins, silicas, and calcium carbonates that we provide to this core market.''
