Kadant Black Clawson To Upgrade De-inking System At Ponderay Newsprint

Mason, OH — Kadant Black Clawson Inc., a subsidiary of Kadant Inc., has received an order from Ponderay Newsprint Company, Usk, Washington, to upgrade its old newspaper (ONP) de-inking system. The upgrade consists of a custom-designed Hydrapurge™ III Detrashing System to fit into the existing line. Kadant Black Clawson's Hydrapurge III is designed to handle high levels of debris typically found in raw materials by extracting the stock from a batch pulper while at the same time entrapping and removing contaminants. With this upgrade, Ponderay expects to increase its capacity to 150 tons per day of de-inked pulp. Installation is scheduled for early 2006.
