The Rosemount Model 398 TUpH pH/ORP sensor, unmatched in the industry for chemical resistance and mechanical durability and ideally suited for harsh applications such as pulp and paper, chemical and plastics manufacturing.

In pH measurement, the reference element must be protected from contamination by poisoning ions such as sulfides, cyanide, mercury and ammonia that would cause the pH signal to drift. The Model 398 TUpH® features technology that ensures long life in processes that typically coat, foul and poison most other electrodes. Significantly, the helical reference pathway is manufactured entirely from PEEK plastic, which provides superior chemical resistance to solvent attack, and the design protects the reference element by requiring contaminants to traverse the long, torturous helical pathway before coming into contact with the internal reference electrode.

The Silcore triple-seal contaminant barrier prevents moisture and material impurities from migrating to the reference electrode’s lead wire, protecting the precision of the sensor measurement. The TUpH also features a large surface area reference junction that has been field-proven to resist plugging, so that it will continue to send a steady pH signal even in the dirtiest environments, further ensuring minimal maintenance requirements and long life. The TUpH sensor models have been specifically designed for long life in harsh, dirty and abrasive applications such as lime slurry, waste treatment, paper machine headbox, and pigment/dye applications, where large quantities of suspended solids are present.
