The project includes two CLEANSWITCH oxidizers, each with the capability of handling 80,000 wscfm of dryer exhaust air, stainless steel ductwork, and a MEGTEC-designed demister. The new RTO units will be installed downstream of an existing three-field WESP (wet electrostatic precipitator). The CLEANSWITCH units are designed with special materials of construction for enhanced corrosion protection, and includes MEGTEC's proprietary cleanable, media beds.
Norbord's decision to select the MEGTEC CLEANSWITCH, came after the company evaluated systems from other emission control equipment suppliers. Rod Schwartz, business director for MEGTEC's process business states, "following the successful installation and operation of the RTOs on Cordele Line 2 dryers in 2006, Norbord again turned to MEGTEC to supply CLEANSWITCH RTO technology with single diverter switch valve for their needs on Line 1 to meet MACT compliance."
The CLEANSWITCH RTO offers MACT compliant VOC removal and exceptional operating economy as compared to other RTO technologies. The proprietary ceramic media bed is specifically designed to be particulate tolerant, resistant to attack by alkali salts, and fully cleanable.
