Particle Charge Detector
- PCD 03: Standard lab device for polyelectrolyte titration
- PCD 03 pH: With parallel pH measurements to determine isoelectric points
- PCD 03 M: With additional for test cells for short-term online measurements
Identification of the surface charges is highly essential for assessment of the reaction mechanisms in colloidal systems. In many applications, the charge amount of a sample in its original concentration is the decisive criterion when the behavior of additives is to be evaluated. Generally speaking, particles with like charges stabilize a suspension because of the repulsion forces between them.
The stable condition may be further enhanced by dispersant additions. Conversely, flocculant dosages will destabilize the suspension.
PCD 03
The PCD 03- the standard version of the series- combines ease of handling with optimum performance in the paper industry. This enables paper manufacturers to instantly identify the charges of solids (fibers and fillers) in the process waters as well as the prevailing anionic trash levels. The titration results obtained are frequently expressed in terms of "cationic demand" in (ml) of titrant, a unit which permits targeted addition of a variety of chemicals.
PCD 03 pH
The PCD 03 pH meets more sophisticated R&D as well as scientific demands. In addition to polyelectrolyte titration this measuring system enables quick and easy acid/alkali titrations to determine the isoelectric point. For the recording of pH curves, two combinations are available.
