PT Joints

With its spring-loaded piston and reverse seal, the Johnson PT joint is a far different design than conventional rotary joints. And it's these advanced design differences that make the PT a more reliable, easier-to-maintain joint – even under the most difficult application conditions.

In addition to leak-free low pressure performance, the balanced seal loading means seal load levels are almost completely independent of operating pressure. At high operating pressures, the PT joint's seal loading is a fraction of a conventional uncompensated joint's - which translates directly to less seal wear and longer seal life.

Another advantage of the PT joint is its ability to absorb thermal expansion up to 20mm. The PT joint's spring-loaded piston keeps the seal ring and mating surface in positive contact as the joint or bearing housing expands.

The PT joint is rated up to 500 RPM, 400°F (205°C) and 150 psig (10 bar). It is available in both through-flow and dual-flow configurations for rotary and stationary syphon systems. Sizes range from 1-1/2" through 6-1/2".
