Revolutionary Cotton Tissue Developed
Purely Cotton® Developed And Manufactured By Natures Way
Green Bay, WI A home to tissue manufacturing operations for generations, the Green Bay area is now home to a tissue manufacturing revolution, with the development and production of Purely Cotton® premium tissue products made from 100 percent cotton fibers.
Patented and trademarked by Natures Way Tissue Corporation, Green Bay, Wis., Purely Cotton premium tissue products are made from raw cotton fibers that are less abrasive, softer, and more absorbent than wood fibers traditionally used in the tissue manufacturing process. In addition, Purely Cotton products are hypoallergenic and virtually lint-free. Purely Cotton products are sold at retail stores across the United States including Safeway, Vons, Wild Oats, Whole Foods, and Dominick's.
Manufactured at the Oconto Falls Tissue mill just north of Green Bay, and converted at the Natures Way converting facility on Glory Road, Natures Way has shipped 740,000 cases of Purely Cotton products, including bath and facial tissue, since January 2004. According to company officials, Natures Way plans to pursue a licensing agreement with a major consumer products company to market Purely Cotton as an extension of a much larger tissue brand.
"Purely Cotton is just one example of innovation taking place in the tissue industry today," said Ron Van Den Heuvel, president of Natures Way. "While some would say the industry is mature, we see more opportunity and innovation on the horizon."
Independent laboratory tests revealed Purely Cotton bath tissue was 43 percent less abrasive and absorbed five times more bacteria than leading brands of bath tissue. Purely Cotton facial tissue was nine times more absorbent with 50 percent less skin irritation than leading facial tissue brands.
"For years, marketers have been using the word ‘cotton to describe the softness of tissue made with chemically softened wood fibers. The truth is, Purely Cotton is the only tissue made from 100 percent cotton, and research shows it is much softer than those claiming to be like cotton," Van Den Heuvel said.
The cotton fibers used in the manufacture of Purely Cotton tissue products are short fibers reclaimed during cotton processing. The result is a "tree-free" environmentally friendly product made from a readily available and sustainable resource. Naturally strong and soft, Purely Cotton is the only facial and bath tissue that is approved to use the "Cotton Inc." seal, and is the highest rated tissue ever, according to ACNielsen/BASES II reports.
