RYECO offers a sheet break detection system which is designed specifically for harsh industrial environments
RYECO offers a sheet break detection system which is designed specifically for harsh industrial environments. The sensor can handle the extreme heat and humidity of a dryer hood and the high dust and debris of a size press or coater. The electronic circuits are designed to eliminate false sheet break alarms and to give early warning of sensor problems. The system easily interfaces with existing process control equipment and can also operate as a sophisticated stand alone break detection system. The sensor is designed to be quickly adapted to replace existing sheet break sensors.

RYECO's SBD-9000 Sheet Break Detection System, which is modular and easily customized, is configured using any combination of five modules.

SBD-9000-L,S Break Sensor: The SBD-9000 sensor is available in either right angled (SBD-9000-L) or straight (SBD-9000-S) versions for mounting flexibility. The sensor amplifier uses pulsating light to avoid interference from existing light sources. The amplifier has two independent outputs; one gives an indication of the presence of the sheet (SHEET ON) and the other gives and indication of break (BREAK). The signals must agree in order for the indication to be fail-safe. No adjustment of the sensor is necessary. The sensor is calibrated at maximum sensitivity before shipment. Each sensor accepts a 12 to 24 VDC power source and provides PLC-ready logic signals for SHEET ON and BREAK signals.

MSC-104 & 108 Multi-Sensor Control Cabinet: As an option RYECO can provide a Multi-Sensor Control Cabinet which provides a power supply, small PLC and relays to interface up to four (MSC-104 or eight (MSC-108) SBD-9000 sensors. The PLC contains software logic to handle automatic sensor disabling and alarming when sensor outputs do not agree. The Multi-Sensor Control Cabinet features a panel with indicator lights for Break and Sheet On.

SSI-101 Single Sensor Interface: For mills which already have a break detection system in place, RYECO offers the SSI-101 Single Sensor Interface. This unit provides a small 24 VOC power supply for the SBD-9000 sensor and two relays. The relays activate with both normally open and normally closed dry contacts from the SHEET ON and BREAK signals. The contacts will provide a connection point for any existing sensor signals. If only one signal is required, the BREAK relay is used.

Cable Kit: The Cable Kit is used when the mill can accept the 12 to 24 VOC logic signals directly from the SBD-9000 Sensor. The Cable Kit provides a 50' cable which connects the SBD-9000 sensor to a termination strip in a small junction box. The Cable Kit is also used when interfacing the sensors to the MSC-104 or MSC-108 Multi-Sensor Control Cabinets.

Conduit Coupler: The Conduit Coupler provides a simple mounting point at the end of a length of 1" threaded conduit. The cable and air line to the SBD-9000 sensor pass down the conduit and attach to the sensor. This protects them from being pulled loose or damaged by the sheet.

The RYECO SBD-9000 Sheet Break Detection System™ is a complete solution to your break detection problems.

RYECO offers a complete system with all interfacing and mounting options from one source. The sensors can replace existing equipment or become a complete stand alone break detection system on a web processing machine.

The RYECO SBD-9000 Sheet Break Detection System™ design features make the system reliable and low maintenance.

The SBD-9000 sensors require no regular cleaning to operate properly. The continuous air purge cleans and cools each sensor even in a hot and dirty dryer hood. The conduit coupler protects the cabling and tubing which eliminates sensor failure due to cut or broken cables.
