Steam Conditioning Valves
Applications
The VST-SE mini valve is primarily used in industrial and utility power plants for the conditioning of auxiliary and process steam. It is especially suited for lower capacity requirements and can yet provide a very high rangeability.
Design
The steam flow is throttled through a contour valve plug guided in a cage with throttling holes. This system provides optimum steam pressure control characteristics for the valve. The plug moves in a hard-faced (nitrided) cage, uncovering a greater or smaller number of the throttling holes.
When the valve is closed, the nitrided plug seating surface seals against the hard-faced seat, thus providing excellent sealing characteristics as well as superior resistance to erosion and thermal fatigue.
The seat body is designed as a field-replaceable component.
The plug is connected to its actuator by a straight stem of a material resistant to heat and corrosion. Precompressed sealing rings of expanded graphite are used for the stem sealing.
