Torraspapel's Motril Paper Mill Receives ISO 14001 Certification

The Motril (Granada, Spain) paper mill now has an ISO 14001 certified environmental management system, once again demonstrating Torraspapel's commitment to and awareness of the environment.

Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, is committed to the environment. As a result, it has been implementing the Environmental Management System since 2001, thus guaranteeing that its production processes respect the environment and are subject to continuous improvement.

The Motril paper mill, located on the coast of the province of Granada in Southern Spain, mainly produces double and triple coated woodfree paper used for commercial publishing and printing.

Over 50 million euros invested in the Motril paper mill since 1999 in facility and process improvement has made it possible to incorporate technologically advanced systems that have resulted in high levels of quality and environmental improvement.

In accordance to Torraspapel's environmental policy, seven of the group's paper mills have obtained ISO 14001 environmental management certification as of the end of 2004: Sarria de Ter, Leitza, Zaragoza, Sant Joan les Fonts, Almazan, Algeciras and Motril.

Obtaining the ISO 14001 guarantees the continuous improvement of processes, affecting residue management, energy use, pollution control and prevention and use of the means necessary for Torraspapel's activity to be carried out in a sustainable fashion.
